Helped Patri Friedman and company think about how governments can be challenged to innovate and how groups might change the world by building a new frontier for humankind. I think the effort led to some worthwhile intellectual conversations and started to popularize the idea that just as old processes and entities in other industries need to be reviewed, so might we improve government with modern innovation (with proper respect for the insights of great government builders of the past, of course, such as America's founding fathers).

Helped to build and run Peter Thiel's highly-successful fund from a start-up into a multi-billion dollar behemoth. Managed an engineering and research team that researched and quantified the international economic picture as reflected in the interactions of fixed income, equity, commodity, and currency markets. We studied various things like the effects of wealth disparities, "bubbles" and feedback mechanisms, liquidity flows, and government interest rate and credit action. Played a key role in general management and in determining the fund's trading strategies. Clarium has some of the top intellects in the world.

Intern, Finance

2002 - 2002

Learned about several aspects of PayPal's online financial transaction business before merger with eBay. Learned Bloomberg, met with engineering employees working on anti-fraud technologies, and became familiar with corporate financial operations and software.
