Backed by the Meltwater Group (50+ offices, 1,000+ employees, 24k clients), the Meltwater School of Entrepreneurial Technology runs a training program that invests and incubates software technology ideas by aspiring technology entrepreneurs from Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, and Ivory Coast. The Incubator has invested between $50,000 to $100,000 in over 20 startups on the ground in Africa. MEST companies have raised external capital from Silicon Valley and European investors, as well as gained admittance to top global accelerator programs such as 500 Startups, Techstars, and Y Combinator. The school frequently hosts domain experts in business and government from around the world to share insights with the community of African makers and founders. Recent guests include representatives from Facebook, Google, Uber, and the United States Government
